Freedom Expansion Housing is an independent-living home in Spring Hill, Florida — rooted in family values and built on dignity. This isn't a facility; it's a safe, supportive place to call home for veterans, seniors, young adults leaving foster care, and people in recovery, while they get back on their feet.
A home, not a facility
Freedom Expansion Housing is independent living — not an assisted living facility. Residents live on their own terms as members of a household, in a place built around respect, consistency, and family values. It's simply a safe, dignified place to call home. When someone needs a little extra help, they're welcome to arrange their own third-party services — like home healthcare or personal supports — with advance coordination.
The Home
We've set the home up so residents can settle in and focus on getting back on their feet — because the essentials are already handled.
Seven beds, including one private room. The house and every room come furnished, so you can feel at home from day one.
Electricity, water & sewer, basic cable, internet, and garbage service are all covered — plus on-site washer and dryer.
A fenced-in backyard with a screen-enclosed pool — a safe, private place to relax.
Third-party services like home healthcare and personal supports are welcome, with advance coordination.
Short-term or long-term — we work with each resident's situation. Accommodating and flexible.
Who We Serve
We open our doors first to those who need it most — and we treat every resident like a neighbor, not a case number.
Those who served, now needing a stable place to land.
Older adults who need a safe, supportive, dignified home.
Young adults stepping into adulthood deserve a steady foundation, not a cliff.
People rebuilding their lives and health in a stable, supportive environment.
About Us
Freedom Expansion Housing was founded by David McKitrick, a Florida Registered Nurse who has spent more than two decades caring for his community — seniors in their later years, and young people working through some of life's hardest seasons. Transitional housing grew naturally out of that work: the same commitment to dignity, reliability, and genuine care, now extended to people who need a safe place to stand while they rebuild.
We believe people, at their core, want to grow — and that the right environment, plus someone who shows up consistently, makes that possible. We run this home the way a good family runs a household — with respect, steady support, and room for everyone to grow. We lead by example, welcome everyone, and honor each person's own journey.
Our first home is in Spring Hill, Hernando County, with a second location coming soon in Pasco County.
